Recall that networking is the number one activity on which individuals looking for a job and individuals focused on business development should focus.
Over-investing in networking
Networking is just one of many activities for employed business professionals, and this is where you and your employed colleagues get stuck. You over-invest in networking because this is where all of your colleagues and all of the articles tell you to focus. Yet, as an employed business professional, there are so many other activities that exist which can help you achieve your goals faster and more effectively.

When you think about participating with a purpose, consider organizing your activities into the following categories:
- Contribute
- Engage
- Attend
- Lead
